Bill Russell is widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players in NBA history.

His illustrious NBA career spanned from 1956 to 1969, during which he played center for the Boston Celtics. Over the course of his 13-year career, Russell achieved remarkable success, winning an astonishing 11 NBA championships, the most of any player in history. 

Known for his defensive prowess, shot-blocking ability, and remarkable basketball IQ, Russell revolutionized the concept of team defense and became the anchor of the Celtics' dominant dynasty in the 1960s. Russell's 1957 Topps rookie card is one of the highest valued pre-1980 basketball cards. In 2023 a PSA 8.5 sold for $660,000 at a PWCC auction. It is the only recognized Bill Russell rookie card.
